Simply Nova

500 Comments

SimplyNova is an old skin of mine (my first as a matter of fact). After being voted Skin of the Month on the Rainmeter group it has gained nearly 500,000 downloads through out all the sites it's currently on and is used in many different ways by Rainmeter users, admins and teachers.

I have gone through all the code and corrected mistakes (always an ongoing process though), got rid of unneeded code, added comments through all files and much more. There are a few changes from the original - better link icons (which as of yet still need some work to allow for icons that you'll actually want/need as users.

I love seeing what people do with these skins - so if you use it please shoot me a message with a link. I don't care what you do with it - just like to see the different uses

I have just finished my Bachelors degree in Computer Programming this year (2012). I am focusing all of my, as of yet, undeveloped talents in Web, Android and Rainmeter development. While I don't consider myself a graphic artist yet, I'm on my way to becoming one.

I'm always looking for new things to learn and new projects to work on. I keep pretty busy as it is, but would love to add new projects to my portfolio as much as possible.

Especially now. To those of you who live in the US, our government is once again trying to pass vote on a privacy killing internet bill called CISPA. Some of you will remember it from about a year ago when many major websites blacked out their site in order to show support AGAINST this bill (PIPA and SOPA specifically - this is for the most part a rendition of those bills). I hope that those of you who watch me on here will speak out about this once again, to reiterate our stance against this kind of intrusion on our rights AGAIN.

Is there a good Tutorial for making own Rainmeter Themes?

As far as I know - there isn't other then what you would find on Rainmeter.net. That's part of what I'm working on now. I want to do a "series" of tutorials that will walk people through the steps of creating different parts of a basic skin. The SimplyNova USB one is a bit more of an add on or advanced tut but still usable for general items. I'm right this moment working on a full set of tuts that will walk new users through meters like weather, hard drives, system properties, network, and other small things that you commonly see. After that I'll get into more advanced things or side items such as the USB bit that I just uploaded. If you have some requests - throw them out on my Facebook page and I'll add it to the list.
